Today’s article by Anthony Ha at VentureBeat discusses our mission here at CustomMade.com and how we differ from other marketplaces for hand-crafted and/or customized products.
We’ve said it before and we say it again in the article – we believe custom is a service, not a product. What do you think?

It’s a service because you’re doing something for the client at the client’s request. When I make a product, I’m making something that I think will have a market and it’s usually designed to be made more than once.
We agree with you Eugene. It is funny because most of the businesses out there seem to call themselves “custom”, but are really “made-to-measure” or offer things that are only slightly customizable. In talking with woodworkers all over North America, we have determined that it is best to consider Custom as a service… it is the interaction and the service that people are buying…
I would agree with @Eugene. I love the little quote in the middle, I think it sums it up. “Custom is a service, it’s not a product.” I think that is the biggest thing that sets you apart. Keep up the good work!
