Finally! An honest mattress company!
For decades mattress shoppers have complained about a lack of honesty in the mattress industry. And anyone who reads this blog knows I have been at the front of that line. Especially in this tough economy, mattress stores are stretching the truth to its limits, saying and doing just about anything to close a sale. Not surprisingly, the biggest, most dominant store chains are the worst offenders. That’s why we’re thrilled to have Create-A-Mattress join the CustomMade family.
Create-A-Mattress was established by industry veterans who understand these tactics from the inside, and their mission is to give consumers a refuge from the traditional mattress shopping experience.

We checked them out; it’s a company that shares our values. Create-A-Mattress offers people a way to choose the materials, features, softness, size, and setup of their new custom mattress. It’s all online (with helpful staff just a phone call away). Mattresses are custom-made to each customer’s specifications, and even include a personalized label. Apartment Therapy recently shopped the site, ordered a product, and gave it a “Strong Recommend” based on ease of ordering, product quality, delivery, and overall satisfaction.
A new mattress should be as comfortable to buy as it is to sleep on. That’s the Create-A-Mattress mission.

I never understood the mattress ergonomics on this part of the world. Why couldnt a person sleep on no spring, no bo spring just platform bed and a simple 4 inches mattress?…believe me, not sleeping on a sea of poking springs works wonders on our back and the body in general.
Sudha,
Historically, metal springs have been used in mattresses in the United States because steel is durable, maleable, and cost-effective as a plentiful domestic resource.
Often the cost of a platform bed with a mattress is higher than the cost of a mattress and box spring, plus it introduces choices for style and color that can complicate the decision.
In recent years, new materials have become more popular. We offer domestic visco memory foam and latex foam core mattresses in addition to traditional metal coils and isolation coils. The latex foam mattresses have a quilted finish that resembles a metal coil mattress, and the visco memory foam comes in a “slab” style more similar to what I think you’re describing.
4″ would be too thin for most people, however sleek 8″ memory foam mattresses on a platform bed have become very popular.
