Some new and exciting faces at CustomMade.com
CustomMade exists because a lot of other folks believe in the importance of custom goods, just like we do. The artisans who make up CustomMade.com are joining in bigger numbers and from a larger array of mediums. Here are some of the new faces and new work popping up on CustomMade.com!
Mike Mathieu – Woodworking Plus
“Mike Mathieu, owner and artist of Woodworking Plus, Midlothian, VA begins by envisioning an object or a moment in time. Then he transfers this image to paper, creates a detailed pattern, and goes to work making your custom project come to life. Instead of using dictionary definitions of Intarsia, we would like to create our own. Intarsia – the experience of merging Nature’s beauty with human ingenuity; finding the perfect combination of woods to express an object or a moment in time; a three- dimensional perspective of the world using natural colored and varied woods; painting with wood.
“Mike can create a custom Intarsia Keepsake/Jewelry Box, Pet Urn or Framed Intarsia Wall Hanging from any photo or picture. All of our patterns are hand drawn and all pieces are hand-crafted with pride using only the finest materials.”
M. Sooriyakumar – Copper Art by Sooriya
“I was born in a small village in Sri Lanka, and grew up with a great love for all kinds of art. For 35 years I have worked in the mediums of copper, iron, stone, wood, and other materials to create artworks that are as functional as they are beautiful. My artistic gift is one that comes from a long lineage of traditional techniques as well as from spiritual discipline.
“When I create my custom artworks, I mediate and chant while I am working, and this practice helps me to bring out a kind of sacredness in my art. All my tools I make myself by hand, and with these instruments I create all my artwork by pounding, tapping, and shaping 3-dimensional forms into copper panels. With great dedication, patience, and love, the feeling of the art comes first through my heart then flows into my hands and finally out into the piece of art. My art is always a reflection of my inner journey and an expression of great joy to share with others. I came to Hawaii 27 years ago to continue my quest to produce this kind of art, and it is here that I have developed my own unique path toward spiritual fulfillment.”
Carl and Sandra Bryant – Showcase Mosaics
“Carl and Sandra Bryant are mosaic artists specializing in handmade residential, commercial and public mosaics. Their studio is in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, but they create work for clients all over the country.
“They offer both representational and abstract contemporary mosaic art using glass, ceramics, tile, beads, found objects, stone and handmade stoneware. Custom projects include fine art, wall art, murals, bathroom and kitchen backsplash, pool mosaics, fountains, fireplace surrounds and much more.”
