Weekend Review: What did you think of Paradise City, Marlborough?

Welcome back. How was your weekend? Did anyone make it out to Paradise City, Marlborough on Saturday? We’d love to hear what you thought of the show this year…

Nader, Eric and Ben all came back with some cool custom finds.

“From fine furniture to photography, jewelry to paintings, there seemed to be a maker for everyone in attendance.  I spoke with Scott, of Scott Dworkin Designs, who creates great hand-sculpted furniture and art.”

Check out this puzzle box that Nader spotted in Scott’s booth:

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a puzzle box by Scott Dworkin Designs at CustomMade.com!

According to Nader, this sensational wooden shape isn’t just another piece of burl -  it’s a puzzle box. What is a puzzle box, you may ask? (I asked Nader). He says that they’re like jewelry boxes, you need to take them apart piece by piece to open them:

“They are so cool. In each one, you have to take out this main piece from the top which unlocks all of the other drawers that it was holding in beforehand…”

Definitely a cool holiday gift for that cousin who’s really into Rubik’s Cubes…

In addition to puzzle boxes, Eric was pretty impressed by a maker who put a unique spin on custom clothing:

“I came across a gentleman who makes clothing from bamboo fiber, then customizes the colors to order. It was a true fusion of artistic talents with a lot of surprises.”

Not only unique, but eco-friendly – that’s custom at it’s best!

Overall, the boys seemed to give Paradise City, Marlborough rave reviews. Ben rates the show ‘phenomenal’:

“There were some phenomenal booths at the Paradise City show.  I was originally impressed with the turnout, and even had to wait in line for a few spectacular booths.  I also happened to speak with a variety of vendors who were beaming over recent large sales.

There was a great buzz at the show and some amazing pieces, and it seemed to be well worth the trip for vendors and consumers alike.”

Do you all agree? Have any other highlights or not-so-high lights you’d like to share?
