The First Annual Moustache Day at CustomMade

“Unique” is one of the operative words here at CustomMade – unique custom home furnishings are lovingly discovered, researched, developed, displayed, written about, sold, and broadcasted across the internet by a motley team of, shall we say, unique individuals…

Our team is not only multinational, but multi-talented. Amongst our 19-member crew, we’ve got  classically trained musicians, artists, athletes, scuba divers, a model boat builder, a token poet, a tea aficionado, and last but certainly not least, our resident juggler and fire-breathing unicyclist.

As we spend our days (and often our nights) sailing the custom seas and scouring the countryside to bring you the most creative custom items around, we’ve often got other antics up our sleeves…

This past month, the CustomMade Development Team took individuality to a whole knew level as we observed “No-Shave November“, a.k.a. “Movember.”

A brief history of Movember can be found here, but just to give you an idea:

“The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia.  The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health.  Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.” – The Movember Foundation

At CustomMade, the observance of No-shave November began on a whim and a challenge: before long, the entire Development Team had roped ourselves (and CEO Mike Salguero) into a commitment not to shave for the month.

I’ll confess – I didn’t think the boys would last, but they pulled through…and today, December 1st, 2010, everyone came to work with shaggy-beards shoven and glorious mustaches on full display.
