The Bermuda Triangle Desk
A whirlpool of time and people: what emerges from it (if anything) is usually transformed.
The Twilight Zone? No.
Alien abduction? Nope.
The Bermuda Triangle?
Of course. And your desk, too.
Do things just disappear when they hit your desk? Do you disappear into your work? Many of us spend a great deal of time connected to our workstations. The artisans of Design Intervention have created a piece for your custom home office as unique as you will find that captures the peculiar gravity of our desks.
“The Bermuda Triangle” desk, inspired by that legendary region of the Atlantic, brings work and play together in a mysterious but functional harmony. If you are looking for custom home office furniture that celebrates creativity with craftsmanship of the highest quality, this future classic is for you.
The workstation is made from solid morado and cocobolo. “The exterior side panels are finished in a hand rubbed black lacquer to perfection and represents the black hole that vessels fall into,” writes Design Intervention founder and designer Holly Tomalak. The hand carved lettering (not appliquéd) has been set into the morado at different depths to simulate objects sinking into the water at different rates.

Slide the front doors into the cabinet and see what lies beneath the surface. “Inside the cabinet shelves have become a little twisted due to the magnetic anomalies of The Bermuda Triangle.” They are perfectly functional, however. (Look carefully and you can find one of Holly Tomalak’s favorite books, the novel Baltasar and Blimunda by the Nobel Prize winning author José Saramago). In addition to space for your computer, you will find a built-in light fixture and a drawer.
