From modern to medieval – CustomMade’s Marketing Team weighs in
It’s a stunning, blue-skied, fluffy-clouded morning here in Boston. A fine day for cruising CustomMade.com to take the pulse on the latest custom products and creations being dreamed up and realized by expert Makers of all sorts. An original custom piece will bring some new light into your lifestyle and keep things fresh and exciting well after summer’s gone.
Earlier in the summer, the fearless Development Team picked some custom highlights, from a swashbuckling custom sword to a whimsical custom weathervane. And the Biz Dev Team piped up a little while afterwards, with some footloose and fancy-free favorites like custom blown glass beach doorknobs and the “Why Knot” bench.
Today, we’ll cruise on down the hall and speak with the savvy folks in Marketing, Community, and Content at CustomMade.com and hear about some of our old-time custom favorites or custom pieces that caught our eyes this summer.
First up, Leah Kramer. Leah is the visionary behind all things Community at CustomMade. If you haven’t yet chimed in on the conversation at our new discussion forums and checked out our summer giveaways, they are some cool CustomMade Community perks to spread even more custom love. Leah, a pioneer of the online crafting community and a small-time Maker herself, really appreciates good craftsmanship and innovative modern design.
One of her all-time favorites on CustomMade.com is The Torino credenza by Jory Brigham designs:
“I love the futuristic mid-century-modern look of it and the brown and orange colors remind me of my Brownies uniform I wore as a kid. ”
Next we’ll visit the Marketing Team, known for their marverick marketing tactics and discerning custom tastes. Ben Murtagh, CustomMade’s Online Marketing Manager, points to a sleek office desk by a rising-star Toronto based furniture maker as his top pick of the moment:
“I’ve always been impressed with Reed Hansuld’s “Roll Top Desk”. He had only been in the industry for a couple years before creating this piece. The attention to detail is absolutely stunning, and it’s a wonderful combination of function and design.”
Leah and Ben are keeping it modern and clean-lined with their custom selections this time around, but Adam Giuffre, VP Marketing at CustomMade, is taking the go-big-or-go-home approach. His custom choice right now is nothing less than a medieval Custom Steel Castle by Nop’s Metal Works:
“If only I had a yard, I’d love to drop one of these in it,” says Adam. “Nop’s Metalworks makes this impressive piece from recycled metal – maybe a location for a CustomMade Vermont office? I’m sure our developers would enjoy lobbing their nerf arrows over the walls. Truly one of a kind!”
I guess it’s my turn now since I work in the same department as these fine folks to spread the message about custom possibilities for all to hear, but jeez a custom castle is a tough act to follow! I’m Arielle Tonkin, Creative Content Manager at CustomMade. I comb the site for cool custom items all of the time, and I’m also all about finding amazing values on incredible handmade pieces.
Today I’m going with this groovy Slab Bench by Nature’s Expression in Tampa, FL because the figured copper pod wood looks almost molten in the summer sunlight, and because it can be custom ordered for under $500!
That’s all we’ve got for now – write in to tell us about your custom summer favorites!
