The wonders of walnut wood
The walnut tree produces a dark, rich lumber that is beautiful in furniture and flooring. With its naturally dark finish, walnut is also very hard. The grain in walnut is usually straight, tight and highly attractive. Walnut that is near the heartwood has a deeper color than the sapwood that is near the exterior of the tree. Because of this, many artisans use walnut to create beautiful and elegant custom walnut furniture.
Walnut is easy to work with and yet hard enough to take an amazing stain. A custom walnut desk with a raised area of intricate, feminine engraving on the back is the perfect addition to any sitting room or office. Raised panels on the drawers and doors and delicate, curved legs add to an air of femininity to a desk that is strong enough to be used for generations.

While walnut wood is a handsome selection for any piece of fine furniture, it can also be used for pieces that will be more whimsical and fun. In addition to walnut tables and chairs, walnut is an excellent choice for cabinets, built-ins, beds, hutches, and even keepsake boxes.
Military flags that are given at retirements and memorials are extremely special to the families that receive them. They come in a simple, plastic bag but can be displayed handsomely in a beautiful custom walnut flag case.
The traditional flag box is a basic triangular shape. However, the flag can also be displayed in a box that combines that basic triangle with two others to create a standard, rectangular shadowbox. The flag is proudly displayed under the walnut framework in the center, while awards, medals, rank insignia and other emblems or pictures can be displayed above it.
A strong and traditional wood, walnut is a wonderful choice for a wide variety of custom home goods and projects.
