In the following video, metal artist Ronald Stinson shares his background, demonstrates his techniques, and explains the final step in his creative process.

Another aspect of my art that I really enjoy is finding the right person who loves it as much as I do.  Meeting the customer one-on-one and finding a good home for the sculpture brings the process to a satisfying close.  Many times I don’t feel that the art is really as successful as it could be until it’s hanging in someone’s home.

This unique sculpture could play for a lifetime in the home or office of a classical music or contemporary sculpture aficionado.  Have a variation on a musical theme you’d like to capture in metal?  Contact Ronald and discuss a custom sculpture design.

If you’re searching for custom made sculptures that touch the world of music, CustomMade artisans can create works in myriad styles that draw inspiration from compositions, instruments, and recordings.

In 2010, the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Ft. Myers, FL, held an exhibit, “Turn Turn Turn: The Artistic Synthesis of Vinyl into Art,” that challenged the participants to use vinyl records and album covers to create works of art.  Artisan Les Gorsuch created this custom guitar sculpture, which won a 2nd Place/Honorable Mention award.  Vinyl records were used to laminate this 2-to-1-scale plywood replica of a Les Paul guitar and create the musical notes on the copper staff along the base.  Have an inspiration for a guitar sculpture of your own?  Just take those old records off the shelf and contact Les.

Does the music move you?  Now you can move the music.  The “Blast of Brass” sculpture by metal artist James Lasley of J. Lasley Designs, “made from a drum cymbal, a trumpet, a fox horn, and various auto parts,” sports a set of wheels, too, “so you can enjoy having a mobile, musical, interactive sculpture.”  Perhaps the only horns you hear are those blasted at you during traffic jams.  Perhaps the heroic, lonely figure of the one-man-band speaks to you.  Whatever your reasons, if this eclectic musical sculpture strikes your fancy, James finds inspiration in “the magical vibrations of the metal” and “getting lost in the smoke and sparks of welding” and is ready to welcome your custom request for a metal sculpture or “any other form or object you can dream up.”
