Forsythia Chair by DST Studio

Well, peel me a grape. The beautiful custom made Forsythia Chair would have made Cleopatra envious!  I love the perceived movement in this unique piece. The ripple effect design forms an uninterrupted curve while structurally creating a natural, ergonomic arch (although I’m not sure if I want to sit on it, or simply run my hands over its smooth curves).

Masterfully crafted by DST Studio, a woodworking studio in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, the Forsythia Chair is an elegant hand-carved representation of spring. The carved blossoms and branches reveal the natural mahogany color of the wood through a bleached and pickled varnish finish. The vibrant colors of the flowers and leaves are enhanced through the use of watercolors.

Whether you see it as a functional piece of furniture or sculptural work of art, the striking design of the Forsythia Chair will become the focal point of any bedroom,  living room, or entryway. But if you do put it in the entryway, this is not a piece to throw your jacket on. (Although, it looks so elegant, I think a jacket may be required just to sit on it.)
