The Live Edge Ambrosia Maple Dining Trestle Table is crafted by master woodworker Clyde Haymore. With over 30 years experience in both commercial woodworking and custom design furniture making, Clyde is now taking his passion to a new dimension and concentrating on hand-crafted slab-style tables and other pieces in highly-figured American hardwoods, inlaid with precious stones with special meanings. Lapis lazuli, for example, represents friendship and authenticy while turquoise is largely associated with good fortune, happiness and well-being.
“I can look at a tree—the more gnarly, the better—and envision the furniture pieces that can come out of it. I get excited just visualizing the beauty I know is in the wood-grain of that tree, and I want to bring that beauty out so that others can enjoy it as a functional work of art.”
For this table, Haymore uses malachite (symbolizing fidelity in love and friendship, practicality and responsibility) to create stunning streaks of inlay. He says he uses unique splashes of brightly colored inlay to showcase the natural beauty of the wood. He completed the table with a through-mortise trestle base, hand-cut pins and a live edge trestle. Mesh the harmonious balance of wood and stone with superior craftsmanship, and you create a symbiotic masterpiece to be enjoyed for a lifetime.
