A customer approached Miche with a design for custom his-and-hers wedding bands with infinity and astrological signs and dates. Here are the drawings submitted by the customer and Miche’s wax model based on those designs.
The finished rings were made from sterling silver.

Computer aided design (CAD) is a wonderful way for an artisan and client to see, exchange, and modify their project ideas. Garry Zimmerman of Windy City Diamonds, LLC, designed this custom engagement ring by using CAD to build a model around an image of the center diamond selected by the customer.
Garry will make a CAD drawing based on his customer’s ideas and their discussions. The drawing, including views of the ring from multiple angles, will be emailed to the customer for review. Garry shared these CAD images with his client so he “was able to visually see what we were making and make comments for modifications to reach the ultimate goal of the perfect ring for his fiancé.”

What if you’re starting with something more tangible than a plan or idea that must be built around very delicately and … diplomatically? All custom pieces made by Cynthia Pischdotchian of Cynthia Britt Designer Jewelry are named after their owner. Here is the story of Courina and the “Courina” wedding band, “From Romania With Love,” as told by Cynthia on her blog.
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a young couple and the soon-to-be the bride’s mom who had just arrived from Romania for her daughter’s wedding. She had brought two wide rose gold bands for the young couple’s wedding that was passed down in their family. The groom’s band just needed sizing and polishing. It had a very masculine and straightforward look that was very complementary for his hand and style. For the bride-to-be, however, the wide rose gold band looked like a piece of metal sitting on her delicate finger. It definitely needed help. To me, she looked like a flower who’s going to have many stories to tell. So I showed her images of bands with intricate flowers on them. … Courina, the bride-to-be, liked a few of the suggestions, but there was one that she liked the most. So I made a model of the piece. Now this is a young couple on a strict budget, which set my goal to make a very fancy ring at minimum cost. Also, to stay in the budget we chose to have white topaz set in the middle of the flower motifs instead of diamonds.
Ready for a ring named after the one you love? Contact Cynthia and let her create a one-of-a-kind piece that will tell your family’s story and your own story for generations. If you can’t try on the wax model ring in person, she will email pictures for your approval.
