Steampunk design and organic forms might seem an unlikely pairing. However, the mechanical fantasies of steampunk are very much “embodied” in the gears, springs, pistons, and other mechanisms within machines. While real world technological innovation has the working parts for machines getting smarter and smaller, the steampunk aesthetic turns machines inside out and celebrates mechanical construction, in effect, the bodies of machines. Beverly explains the evolution of this beautiful piece: “It started out that I wanted a bluish-green necklace for an outfit. I wore it once with just the kyanite beads and realized it needed more color. I added the chrysoprase but felt it still needed more contrast, so I added the coral.
